Bitcoin Diamond (BCD) is a hard fork of the original Bitcoin blockchain intended to provide a greater degree of overall security and individual privacy. The fork designers also hoped to lower the per unit price of each bitcoin, decrease transaction fees and increase transaction speeds, all in the hopes of making Bitcoin more accessible to average people and more useful as a means of transaction instead of as a store of value. The value of Bitcoin Diamond plunged dramatically from the date of the fork which occurred right near the end of the market-wide crypto boom and bust of 2018. Although there was one brief spike back up on the general way down, overall the price of the coin has continued to decrease at a rapid pace. The value of the digital currency is now almost 1/100th of what it was at the time of the hard fork.
