What Is PancakeSwap?
PankcakeSwap is a one-of-a-kind cryptocurrency project that allows users to exchange tokens (usually BEP20 tokens) on its decentralized exchange. Beyond that, PancakeSwap enables its users to earn fees and provide liquidity through farming.
This procedure can be done through its Decentralized Finance (DeFi) Application. These reasons are why PancakeSwap is mostly referred to as an Automated Market Maker (AMM). For context, what an AMM does is that it enables cryptocurrency pools to allow trading without necessarily needing order books. It was initiated in the year 2020.
So, in PanacakeSwap's case, it allows BEP20 tokens built on the Binance Smart Chain (BSC). Hence, users trade or pick up the offer of depositing liquidity to provide tokens into BNB smart chain pools. In doing this, users receive a share of the pools and trading fees for the work done on the Pancakeswap platform.
A Brief History of PancakeSwap
It is not uncommon for founders of cryptocurrency projects to want to remain anonymous. So, it is the same case with PancakeSwap. Some unknown developers created PancakeSwap in September 2020.

What Makes PancakeSwap Unique?
Pancakeswap is unique because the automated market maker models use liquidity pools instead of order books. This is one model that only a few cryptocurrency projects have adopted.
In a liquidity pool, users can put in their token for farming (deposit and lock up token) liquidity pool token which then enables them to take their CAKE and gain rewards. It is as easy as that. There are also lotteries in which you can play to try your luck at winning some CAKE tokens.
How Does PancakeSwap Work?
Since CAKE uses an automated market maker model, makes the involvement of intermediaries is needless. This then makes every user a liquidity pool provider. In summary, Pancakeswap depends on the funds deposited into smart contracts via the automated market maker. These smart contracts are also referred to as Liquidity Pools (LP).
This process allows users to trade against the deposited funds without needing third-party sources. In this case, there is no need for Know-Your-Customer (KYC) validation for trade to occur. Users also have a say in policies and how any new development is implemented.
As for the liquidity providers, they receive rewards and share a part of the transaction fees. These rewards are referred to as Liquidity Pool tokens (LP tokens). Also, liquidity providers participate in yield farming and have the opportunity to take and earn rewards in CAKE tokens.
How Is the PancakeSwap Network Secured?
As with other cryptocurrencies, PancakeSwap can be stored safely and securely in wallets. However, the wallet has to be on the Binance Smart Chain. Popular wallets such as Trust wallet, Metamask, and the like are used for securely storing CAKE.
