Cronos [CRO] is a cryptocurrency token used as the main payment method for transactions in Cronos blockchain, a blockchain developed by the financial services company Crypto.com. Cronos blockchain is part of the cosmos ecosystem and was created as a means of increasing personal financial control.

Cronos' token has a maximum supply of 100 billion coins. Token allocation occurs as follows:
To assure that the project will be operable in the long term, 60% of the crypto supply will be frozen. Both the wallet for the capital reserve and the network long term incentives wallet are to be frozen until the 7th of November, 2022.
A Brief History of Cronos
Crypto.com was founded in 2016 by Bobby Bao, Rafael Melo, Kris Marszalek, and Gary Or At that time, the exchange was still named “Monaco Technologies”, from which the original MCO moniker token name is derived.
Before Crypto.com launched, Rafael Melo had already held a degree in engineering from PUC-Rio, Kris Marszalek had founded a location-based service mobile app company, Gary Or had accumulated years of full-stack engineering experience, and Bobby Bao had worked in a Chinese investment bank.
Since February 2021, however, the Crypto.com official token is now Cronos [CRO]. The rebrand was meant to depict the Cronos blockchain ecosystem, which stimulated the development of Web3, decentralized Apps (dApps), DeFi, GameFi, and NFT features.
What Makes Cronos Unique?
To support projects built on the Cronos blockchain, one of the lineups of uses of Crypto.com, the accelerator Particle B announced a fund of $100 million CRO EVM.
Cro has a trading application that offers a crypto credit card and other benefits for crypto.com users, as discounted fees. Cronos mainnet beta went live on the 7th of November, 2021.

Cronos is an EVM-token compatible built on Ethermint. The Crypto.com coin follows the ERC-20 compatibility standard and uses a Proof of Authority (POA) consensus mechanism with many validators.
