DigiByte (DGB) is a cryptocurrency that was launched in 2014 as a faster and more secure version of Bitcoin (BTC). Most of the adjustments to the DigiByte blockchain compared to Bitcoin are focused on the nature of the digital currency mining process, which makes it far less vulnerable to some of the mining-based attacks that Bitcoin was more vulnerable to in its early years. The value of DigiByte saw an enormous spike and drop in early 2017, followed by a smaller spike and drop in the general cryptocurrency boom of 2018.
