What Is EOS?

The EOSIO platform is powered by EOS, a cryptocurrency. A key objective of EOSIO is to make it the most robust blockchain platform, enabling developers to create smart contracts as well as decentralized applications on the network.

Using this blockchain, thousands of transactions can be performed every second, and the cryptocurrency has no transfer fee or reception fees. The protocol pays network administration companies with EOS instead of inflation, thus replacing inflation for transaction fees with EOS.

EOS price

A long history of sideways price action has interspersed with sharp price increases and decreases for EOS.

The price of EOS plummeted 79% within 13 days of its launch after it surged 996% to $5.50 the next day. In late 2017, the crypto bull run began to take effect, and the asset moved from $0.45 to $2.0 for four months. By the end of March, its price had crashed to $4 from $18.69 on Jan.18, 2018.

It was a resurgence in April 2018 that brought it to its all-time high of $22.89. However, EOS dropped to $2.59 by the end of the year as investors lost faith in the project. Only in May 2019 did EOS' price spike to $8.60, but only for a brief period.

An upward trend in the crypto market began in April 2021, with EOS breaking above $14.71.

A Brief History of EOS

The EOS blockchain protocol was created by Block. One, a software publisher, is led by Steem's ($STEEM) and BitShare's ($BTS) CTO, Daniel Larimer. It competes with Ethereum ($ETH), NEO ($NEO), and Cardano ($ADA), which are all popular smart contract platforms.

With EOS, users do not pay direct fees for transactions as it offers transaction throughput that can handle thousands of crypto exchanges per second. All parties involved can benefit from improved usability, and businesses and chains can be maintained through effective governance.

On the EOS blockchain, token holders can vote for block producers and vote on various protocol changes, monetary policies, and stakeholder bylaw updates. Bylaws are defined and enforced in the EOS User Agreement.

Protocol-level rules are not enforced by the rules but rather by user agreements. BP voted in April 2019 to replace Block. One's Constitution with this community-developed agreement.

Its growth and adoption are dependent on ecosystem funds. Investments they make are aimed at increasing the value of the tokens associated with the project.

In order to attain this goal, the necessary infrastructure must be built, and developers must be rewarded appropriately for making it on the platform. Galaxy Digital EOS VC, run by Mike Novogratz, is the most prominent.

What makes it Unique?

A Layer 1 blockchain with low latency and high performance, the Network turns developers' visions into reality. This involves integrating programmable architectures with flexible blockchain infrastructures and building custom smart contracts. The technology stack and a resilient community are what make this blockchain unique.

How Is the EOS Network Secured?

As a proof-of-stake system that confers governance power relative to token holders' stake in EOS, it is based on delegated proof-of-stake (DPOS).

This token represents pro-rata access and governance rights to the network and its resources. A decentralized autonomous organization runs a decentralized operating system, EOS Network.

As part of DPOS, token holders elect representatives to validate transactions on their behalf. In addition to eliminating consolidation, it helps ensure that those with greater computing power and resources do not push out smaller miners.

Where Can You Buy EOS?

There are countless exchanges where you can buy EOS, including Binance, Coinbase, Kraken, Bithumb, Upbit, and more.
