DigiByte (DGB) Price – Current Live Value
Real-Time DigiByte Price Chart (DGB to USD)
DigiByte (DGB) is a cryptocurrency that was launched in 2014 as a faster and more secure version of Bitcoin (BTC). Most of the adjustments to the DigiByte blockchain compared to Bitcoin are focused on the nature of the digital currency mining process, which makes it far less vulnerable to some of the mining-based attacks that Bitcoin was more vulnerable to in its early years. The value of DigiByte saw an enormous spike and drop in early 2017, followed by a smaller spike and drop in the general cryptocurrency boom of 2018. It now operates at more muted price levels, though still higher than its pre-2017-spike price. It is currently a top 60 coin by market cap.
DigiByte was designed as a direct upgrade to the then dominant Bitcoin, attempting to address mostly key security problems associated with the underlying blockchain. Many of the improvements that were incorporated into the coin at launch and soon after have been adopted by subsequent cryptocurrencies as standard features of their blockchain. Each DGB coin was also launched at a fraction of BTC value to more easily act as a means of exchange for smaller transactions. The DigiByte blockchain also processes transactions faster than Bitcoin.
DigiByte has been at the forefront of many subsequent digital currency innovations, most notably the adoption of the SegWit protocol that Bitcoin itself later adopted.
