Ravencoin (RVN)

Ravencoin (RVN) is a cryptocurrency that is based on the Bitcoin protocol. It was launched in 2018 to act as a cross-border payment system that still relied on a Proof of Work (PoW) protocol, unlike most Smart Contracts platforms that use a Proof of Stake (PoS) system to verify transactions. The coin was designed to be effectively unalterable, as it would be extremely difficult for miners to commit a 51% attack against it without the use of ASIC miners, which it does not support, and without any major stakeholders holding a large amount of tokens.

Because it was launched after the 2018 crypto boom and bust, the value of Ravencoin has remained relatively flat and stable since its initial launch. It is now a top 50 cryptocurrency by overall market cap.

Ravencoin was designed to address very specific problems with the Bitcoin protocol, namely its vulnerability to miner-based attacks and the constant process of alteration and forks that make it less stable as a means of exchange. This coin is not intended to be a store of value, but rather to be used as a rapid and stable means of exchange between virtually any goods and services, from gold bars to gift points.
